Publisher's Description:Caisis addresses documentation issues by storing key patient data points in chronological order. Once in the database, computer algorithms are used to summarize patient histories and print them on clinic forms. When observing daily clinic functions, we noted patients’ therapies, medications, comorbidities, and histories were recapitulated at each visit. This process is time consuming and increases the chances of transcription errors. By storing the data in a carefully designed relational database, this information can be collected once, reviewed at each clinic for modifications or additions, and updated for the patient’s next visit. Once approved by your Billing and Compliance officer, these forms can be used in lieu of a dictation. While a physician always has the option of dictating, using these forms can reduce time and money spent dictating or transcribing dictions.
Data collected in clinic is vital for the management of patients on clinical studies. Many institutions store clinical and research information in separate databases, but we feel that this approach is limiting. An overwhelming percentage of the information used for research is also used for documentation and clinical decisions, so there is justification for linking these systems. Although we store both clinical and research information in Caisis, we do recognize the need to “logically” separate research information, so it does not affect clinical decisions.
